Maple Valley Days
BLACK DIAMOND is located about 35 miles south east of Seattle. It is a small, historic town that found its roots in the great coal mining industries of the early 1990′s. This quiet town features a pleasant downtown area offering local bakeries, restaurants, and even a museum dedicated to its history. It is not far from I-5, which connects the entire urban and suburban landscape of the Puget Sound region.
Kent is centrally located between Seattle, 18 miles to the north, and Tacoma, 18 miles to the south. Its breathtaking setting features a view of Mt. Rainier rising majestically over the landscape, and the Cascade and Olympic Mountains on the horizons. The Kent Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department have been nationally recognized for Excellence in Parks and Recreation Management. There are 68 parks and open spaces comprised of 1,400 acres within the Kent Parks system. Kent also features an ice hockey rink, a drag racing track, and many art and entertainment events, which go up during the summer.
